But the folks working at One Microsoft Way know they are doing something right when both critics and developers are giving their seal of approval. The Metro UI on Windows Phone is praised by tech journalists for its radical and innovative design, while budding developers are busy exploring the ins and outs of the new operating system. Relying on the strength of its Metro UI, Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8 on desktop computers and tablets later this year.
Owners of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, however, don’t have to wait until October to get the Metro experience on their tablets. Down at XDA, a senior member of the dev community that goes by the nickname BroBot175 has created a Metro UI theme to make your Galaxy Tab 10.1’s home screen look just like the real thing.
All you need to do is install the flashable application using ClockworkMod recovery. Aside from gaining the panel-esque look on the tablet’s home screen, you will also get a matching Metro theme for the notification panel and taskbar. They’re more than enough to fool people that you are running Microsoft’s creation on – gasp – Android tablets.
The developer is hard at work to introduce more widgets for the theme. Seeing that it’s not a final build, you can expect some bugs as well. In case you’re interested to try it out, the Metro UI theme for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is compatible with home-brewed ICS.
