Google Nexus 7 16GB model back on store in Google Play store

On Friday, we reported that the 16GB version of the Google Nexus 7 has become available again in the Canadian Play Store, after being listed as sold out for the last two weeks.

Today, the 16GB Nexus 7 has made a comeback on the US Google Play store. The device is now listed as in stock, and ships in 3 to 5 days, just like the 8GB version. The 16GB model is available for $249, while the 8GB version goes for $199.

The ASUS-made Nexus 7, Google’s first tablet in the Nexus program, has generated an enormous amount of buzz since its launch at Google I/O. The device, built on Nvidia’s $199 Kai platform, has sold out quickly in many brick-and-mortar stores, and remained in limited availability from online retailers. The 16GB version has been especially scarce until now, while the supply of 8GB has been somewhat more stable.

In Canada, the 8GB version went out of stock on Friday, but it seems that Google has more units on hand in the US. If you are looking for some protection for your investment, the grey flip cover for the Nexus 7 has also become available for sale.

If you can’t wait to get your Nexus 7, you can try your luck at your local electronics store. Some outlets, such as Staples units, seem to have stocks of the 16GB version, so you might be able to buy a tablet without waiting for the shipping.
