Brilliant Quotes & Quotations – Indie app of the day

Brilliant quotes review

What is Brilliant Quotes & Quotations?

Brilliant Quotes & Quotations is an application that -you guessed it- provides you with a whole bunch of quotes. There are a lot of these but this one kind of stands out thanks to its UI and extra features. It’s free to use in the Google Play Store and has in app purchases.

The apps works like pretty much any quotes app does. You can browse, search for, and share over 3600 quotes from 260 people. It also has some extra stuff like a recommended section, short author bios, and even a rating system so people can vote on their favorite quotes. For a quotes app, Brilliant Quotes does about as much as you can reasonably expect it to do.

The UI is classic Holo and comes in light and dark themes. There is also a widget if you want to set up quotes on one of your home screens. The UI itself is very well set up although there seems to be quite a bit of empty space if you’re viewing it in landscape mode or on a tablet. It’s not bad but it’s noticeable.

About as good as it gets for a quotes app.

PROS
  • 3600 quotes from 260 people is quite a bit.
  • Includes about as many features and add ons as you could expect from an app like this.
  • Holo UI with two themes. Both themes look nice.
  • Free to use with in app purchases.
CONS
  • Some issues have been reported. It’s nothing major but things like the widget not updating itself have been reported.
  • It is a quotes app and that is a tired idea.
8.5

Overall, you can’t do much better than this for a quotes app. Others probably have more but this one looks nicer and has almost every feature we could possibly want in a quotes app. It’s free to try so it won’t cost you anything to check it out!
