Archos 101 XS Jelly Bean update begins rolling out

Archos 101 XS

Own an Archos 101 XS? We have great news for you. Archos has now started rolling out an update that brings Android 4.1.1 to the tablet.

The update will likely hit in waves, but it doesn’t hurt to start checking for it right away. With the Jelly Bean upgrade, Archos 101XS users get in on project butter speed improvements, Google Now, improved calendars and tons of other Jelly Bean features.

Beyond Jelly Bean, the new firmware release also includes a new version of Archos Video that includes simplified video information retrieval. The overall performance and interface are greatly improved in Archos Video, as well. Archos is also pushing future updates of its Archos Video, Music, File Manager and System Monitor applications over to Google Play.

When you consider that many other similar tablets are still stuck on ICS, it’s pretty impressive to see the 101 XS already making the jump over to Jelly Bean. Any 101 XS owners manage to get their hands on the update yet, if so what do you think so far? Can you tell the difference in performance?
