Amazon intros Kindle FreeTime Unlimited for kids, all-you-can-eat content for $2.99 per month

When the new lineup of Kindle Fire tablets was announced several months ago, Amazon also introduced FreeTime, a parental control feature that lets parents limit the time their kids can use the tablet for reading books, watching video, or playing games – while blocking access to web browser and the app store.

Just in time for the holiday, the kid mode has received a boost with the introduction of the Kindle FreeTime Unlimited.

The new subscription service gives your kids unlimited access to a plethora of books, movies, TV shows, games, and apps at a monthly flat rate of $2.99 per child for Amazon Prime members or $4.99 for non-Prime members. The price goes up to $6.99 and $9.99, respectively, if you want to add up to 6 children to the service.

The content comes from Disney, Nickelodeon, PBS, Sesame Workshop, and more. All in-app payments and advertisements are removed from the apps – making the playground more conducive for the little ones.

The all-you-can-eat plan is available for owners of the Kindle Fire HD tablets, as well as the refreshed Kindle Fire. You will be getting a free software update on your Kindle Fires in the coming weeks to enable the Kindle FreeTime Unlimited feature, and it will come with a free one-month trial.  This should help keep the kids occupied during the long holiday trips.
