Acer Iconia A510 Olympic Tab to be launched in the UK in June, pricing undisclosed

Although it has started selling in the US for more than a month, Acer’s special Olympic Edition of the Iconia Tab A510 hasn’t seen the light of day where it should be most expected, in the UK. London will be the host of the Summer Olympics starting in just over a couple of months, so it was only natural to expect Acer step things up for British sports/tech fanatics.

Fortunately, we now have heard news about the tablet’s UK release on Carphone Warehouse. Unfortunately, that is still set for an unspecified date sometime in June. It’s true, June is just around the corner, but the fact that no date has been mentioned makes us think that the slate might be in for a launch set several weeks or even a full month from now.

If you’re willing to wait for it, you should know that the 10-incher will be branded as the Acer Iconia A510 Olympic Tab and will come with a special treat for all of you who live and breathe sports. You will get a free “trial period of Eurosport’s channels on Eurosport Player” running from July 27 to August 13.

Coincidentally (not!), that’s exactly when the Olympic Games are set to take place this summer, so you’ll be able to watch all London sporting events on Eurosport and Eurosport 2 directly on your tablet without paying a dime.

Other than that, the Iconia A510 Olympic Tab is the exact copy of the US A510 Olympic Edition. It will be powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, while featuring 1 GB of RAM, dual 5 MP/1 MP cameras, 32 GB of on-board memory, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, HDMI, and a large 9,800 mAh battery, supposedly capable of running for up to 15 hours on a single charge.

Sporting a 10.1-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, the Iconia A510 Olympic Tab will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and will have the Olympic Circles “painted” on its back. There are no words on pricing just yet, but you can pre-register on CarphoneWarehouse’s official website and find out when will the tablet be made available and how much it will cost.

Before wrapping up this post, we should also tell you to be careful with the Iconia A510 if it will be made available very soon. As we informed you yesterday, there have been reports of a mysterious faulty component that caused the delay of the device in some markets. However, we’re confident that Acer won’t start shipping if they’re not 100% confident, so you probably don’t have much to worry about.

Will you British blokes be looking to get an A510 Olympic Tab soon enough? Why? Why not?
