YouTube for Android 5.2.27 available for download, offline video playback not yet enabled

YouTube Android App

After seeing Google Play Store for Android being updated to version 4.4.21 the other day, it’s now time for another Android app update – this time it’s YouTube for Android 5.2.27.

Spotted by Android Police, the YouTube update is being “quietly” rolled out by Google, but you can manually update to version 5.2.27 by grabbing the APK yourself (check out the Source link below).

The offline support feature that YouTube for Android is supposed to get is still not here, and from the looks of it this is a pretty “boring” update.

However, the publication took apart the APK, digging for more clues regarding upcoming features for the app and discovered that YouTube for Android will offer background audio support.

That means you’ll be able to start a video in the YouTube app and then use other apps, or even turn off the display (especially useful when using YouTube to listen to stuff instead of actually watching video). The feature will not be available though on YouTube for Android 5.2.27.

Furthermore, code strings have also been discovered suggesting that the offline video playback feature is going to soon be available on Android devices – we’re looking at messages that the application will display when offering users the choice of adding and/or removing videos to the offline queue.
