Smartphones have gotten a lot bigger over the years. It makes sense, as it’s a lot easier to watch videos, play games, and surf the web on a device that features a large screen, which is one of the main reasons why phablets have become so popular.
Samsung seems to think that the demand for large smartphones in India will only increase with time. Speaking to a group of reporters, Manu Sharma, the Vice President of Samsung India, said that the company will now focus on releasing large screen devices with display sizes of 5.5-inches and upwards in India.
It appears that Samsung has already started its mission of bringing large devices to the country, as it has recently launched the Galaxy C9 Pro smartphone that features a 6-inch screen. Judging by the words of Manu Sharma, you can expect to see more devices with large screens hit the market in the near future.
Because of its size, India is a very important market for smartphone manufacturers. Although Samsung is still top dog in the country, it is taking a beating from the likes of Lenovo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and other Chinese manufacturers that offer devices with a better price-performance ratio. To stay competitive, Samsung now thinks that it should change its strategy a bit and give users what they really want, which is a wider selection of smartphones with big screens. Of course, the price will have to be right as well…
