Samsung Galaxy Tab Release Date Gets Narrowed Down A Bit

The Samsung Galaxy Tab details continue to unravel. So far we have yet to see anything official come directly from Samsung, but that aside the spec listing is ever so slowly being filled in. That, and the same goes for a release date.

Of course, we are secretly hoping that Samsung will choose to make an official announcement sooner than later. But either way, rumors and slow reveals are fun. And given that its been a few weeks since we last heard about the Tab, lets do a quick recap on the specs that we have so far.

In terms of features we are expecting to see a 7 inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz A8 processor, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 4,000 mAh battery and Android 2.2. In addition, the Tab is said to have a 3.2 megapixel on the back, a front facing camera for video conferencing and support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G.

All in all it looks pretty decent. Especially the part about launching with Android 2.2. That said, depending on when it actually hits the market 2.2 may either be outdated or close to being outdated.

The good news there comes in the form of the most recent bit of information — according to JK Shin from Samsung Mobile, he recently told Forbes that the Galaxy Tab will go on sale “before October.” Granted, that is pretty close to the same as what we have heard in the past, but at the same time its nicer to hear it now because that implies that the Tab remains on schedule and not suffering from any delays.

So how about it Samsung, are you almost ready to spill the official specs, release date and most important — the price. Then again, who is to say that the Galaxy Tab name is official. All we really know is that Samsung is working on an Android tablet.
