Good news, guys! Republic Wireless has announced they will be introducing 7 new smartphones to their selection, starting this July. The new additions are the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy J3 and Moto X Pure Edition.

Republic Wireless is known for its amazingly low prices. The only problem is that they have never really offered enticing phones. Case and point, right now the carrier only carries the Moto G and Moto E. Not that those phones are bad! In fact, they are awesome budget handsets, but leave a lot to be desired for more demanding users. The fact that there are no high-end offerings is a bit of a problem and forces much of the market to go somewhere else for service. Let’s hope these new introductions change things up.

It’s not just the selection of phones that are changing, however. Republic Wireless is also preparing to revamp the pricing structure for its plans and is also adding a second network to the fold, giving it a wider range of support. Right now, the carrier uses Sprint whenever you aren’t connected to Wi-Fi, but in the future you’ll also get the support of an unnamed GSM network. Well, Republic Wireless says it can’t officially mention the name but it mentioned “magenta” and “nation’s fastest 4G LTE” — so pretty easy to fill in the blanks (it’s T-Mobile).

As for the pricing? The new plans will no longer offer a refund for unused data, which is a bit of a letdown, considering that was one of Republic Wireless’ biggest features. That said, the MVNO promises its pricing will be very competitive and while the full lineup hasn’t been disclosed, one of the plans will offer unlimited talk/text and 1GB data for $20 — making the pricing here very aggressive.
