New York Times Android App Available

The New York Times, one of the world’s largest and most recognizable brands in the news business, is now available on Android. The Times tipped its hand weeks ago that it was coming to Android, and the app is now in the market as NY Times.

Like most things involving the Times company, the app has a simple interface that’s clean and organized. It has a gray, black, and white color scheme to deliver news from the source of “award-winning journalism.” The app includes photos, video, sharing tools, font size adjustment, and the ability to cache articles for offline reading.

The Times is one of the many news sources I follow, so I’m happy to see them on an Android device finally, especially after the third-party rip of the iPhone app was shut down last year. However, I get the feeling that my time with the app – and the paper in general – will be short-lived once the Times institutes its pay-wall. For now, it’s free.
