Instagram testing multiple photos in one post with some Android users

Instagram continues to grow its user base, especially as more celebrities use the social network to promote themselves to their fans. As it becomes more popular, it is only natural that we will continue to see a growing number of useful additions designed to make an already solid platform even better. One such change is now starting to arrive, at least to select lucky users.

What kind of feature are we talking about exactly? A new update to Instagram is bringing support for uploading multiple photos into one post, arguably a much needed extra. The feature was first spotted by users such as Philip Chang, who posted on Twitter what he found when he downloaded the 10.7.0 version of Instagram:

Once fully implemented, the feature will allow users to select up to 10 photos that can be uploaded all at once in an album. Once the post goes live, visitors will be able to swipe through the album to see each individual photo, and also like each one if they choose.

As mentioned above, the new multiple photo feature is still only available for a few Android Instagram users, and online reports indicate that at least some people who got this update are currently not able to post these images to their timeline. In other words, Instagram is likely just testing this feature with a limited number of its fans before it flips the switch and makes it available for everyone else.

Adding multiple photo support for individual Instagram posts will likely be a very popular addition. Facebook and Twitter already have that kind of feature, and it certainly makes since for a photo-centric social network like Instagram to add this to the mix as well.

If you are an Instagram user on Android, have you been able to access and use the multiple photo support and is it working correctly or not? Please let us know your impressions in the comments and we will update this post once the feature officially goes live for everyone else.
