Nook Color Update: Android 2.2, Flash, Apps

The Nook Color is finally set to get an official Android 2.2 Froyo update after months of developers hacking the e-Reader into becoming a full-fledged and affordable tablet.

The news come courtesy of HSN – that’s right! Not Bloomberg, not WSJ, not even Engadget, but the Home Shopping Network!

HSN has stated in their infomercials that Barnes & Noble will be rolling out an over-the-air update (OTA) for the Nook Color to Android 2.2 in “mid-April.” The update brings Adobe Flash Player, Sketchpad, Angry Birds and some sort of push email notification. There is also promise of a lot of “Nook apps” however we hope this doesn’t mean there is still no official Android Market app (although you may be able to side load it.

HSN also states that customers who purchase the Nook Color on the show are “guaranteed to be the very first people updated.”
