The rapid growth of the smartphone market in India has been built on a simple guiding principle: sell powerful hardware at the lowest price you possibly can. The likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, and Oppo have thrived in the region by sticking to this formula and continue to offer phones with incredibly high price-performance ratios.

Google, after no doubt seeing the staggering sales figures, decided to take a slightly different approach last month when it released it introduced its brand new flagships, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, to the fastest growing smartphone market in the world.

While both phones – technical issues aside – are terrific devices, Google’s decision to launch the pair priced ₹61,000 and ₹73,000, respectively, was highly questionable, if not outright baffling. To put those numbers into perspective for US readers, the Pixel 2 costs the equivalent of $946 in India compared to the usual $649 asking price.

Thankfully, it seems that Google has seen the error of its ways – if only temporarily – as it has teamed up with Flipkart to offer a significant saving on the smaller Pixel 2 phone as part of the retailer’s Big Shopping Days sale.

Starting tomorrow, consumers can pick up the 64 GB model Pixel 2 for just ₹39,999 ($620), which represents a whopping discount of ₹21,001 ($326).

The one small caveat to this incredible promotion is that you’ll only receive the full discount if you pay via a debit or credit card. Flipkart is offering a flat discount of ₹11,001, while the remaining ₹10,000 is a bank offer.

As an added bonus, however, Flipkart is offering up to ₹18,000 if you choose to trade-in selected devices alongside your purchase. You’ll also get a buyback value promise of up to ₹36,500 if you choose to exchange the Pixel 2 within a year.

If you’re interested in grabbing Flipkart’s impressive deal you’ll need to do so before December 9th when the Shopping Days sale ends. Flipkart is also offering discounts on selected Xiaomi devices, including the hugely popular Redmi Note 4, and several iPhone models during the bumper sale.
