Google+ app update fixes most of the recent overhaul’s issues

Back in November, Google+ rolled out an update for their Android app that set some users’ teeth on edge. While the overhaul was generally positive, it introduced a slew of new bugs and issues that quickly grew irritating to frequent users. It finally looks as though the dev team is setting some of these problems straight, because the new G+ update focuses squarely on these bugs and clumsy interface options.

What all do we have in store with Google+ 7.0.0? Right off the top, the team found and fixed nearly 70 bugs and 14 accessibility issues. That annoying black bar on the bottom of the screen at least goes away while you’re scrolling (although if they could do something else entirely with that, it would be nice). The search bar now shows autocomplete suggestions as you’re typing, as well. There’s also a prompt that encourages users to add Collections or Communities if none are visible on their profile, which seems like a nice way to let new users know about some functionality that they might not be aware of.

The update is rolling out over the next few days, but if you’re the impatient type and want to give this baby a whirl, you can always download it from the Play Store by clicking the button below. In the meantime, what are your thoughts about this update? Were you in the anti-overhaul camp back in November, or has G+’s trajectory been generally positive in your experience?
