Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean coming on August 29 alongside Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

Just a few weeks ago we heard that some of the most important Samsung Android handsets may get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the following months, with the Galaxy S3 and the upcoming Galaxy Note 2 being rumored to be the first ones to be updated, with the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note to follow by the end of the year.

At the time, we didn’t have any actual release dates for these Jelly Bean upgrades, with the Galaxy S3 said to get Android 4.1 in late Q3 / early Q4. As for the Galaxy Note 2, which is expected to be unveiled on August 29, a day ahead of IFA 2012, it’s still not clear whether the new phablet will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich on board or whether it will run Jelly Bean right out of the box.

Now, we have a new rumor for you, which reveals a possible release date for the Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update. The flagship Android smartphone is rumored to be officially upgraded to Jelly Bean on August 29, with Samsung expected to announce update details during the special Unlocked Berlin-based media event dedicated to the Galaxy Note 2.

The update is said to be available to European and Asian Galaxy S3 buyers at first, who will be able to upgrade to Jelly Bean either over-the-air (OTA) or via KIES. Before you get too excited or angry – depending on where you reside – we’ll advise you to take everything with a grain of salt for now, as we have no official statement from Samsung on the matter.

Of course, there are other ways to already get a Jelly Bean taste on your Galaxy S3, not that we advise you to take any unofficial roads, especially if you’re not well-versed in installing custom ROMs on Android devices.

We’ll certainly keep you in the loop on all things Jelly Bean-related, so remember to keep following us for timely updates.

Don’t know why they insist on bringing things to the North American market last. I should have bought an iPhone.
