Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000) receives KitKat update, in Germany

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-10.1-2

After a little wait, Android 4.4.2 KitKat is now available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000), that’s the tablet that was released all the way back in August 2012. The update is currently rolling out in Germany and will bump up the firmware version of the tablet to N8000XXUDNE4.

The tablet’s younger brother, the 2014 edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1, received its own Android 4.4.2 KitKat update last month.

As with previous KitKat updates for Samsung devices, there’s not a whole lot of changes to Samsung’s own software, but the update will bring with it some new KitKat features. Android 4.4.2 includes immersive mode, cloud printing, white status bar icons and some improvements to system performance.

Those of you living in Germany should receive an OTA update notification any time soon, if you haven’t already. You can also install the update through Samsung’s Kies software, or force a manual check through your handset, by going to settings > general > about phone > software updates.

It hopefully won’t be too long until the update reaches other parts of Europe and the rest of the world. If you are not one for waiting, you can always flash the update yourself using the files and method found here, just make sure you know what you’re doing.
