There are certainly no shortages when it comes to kid-friendly tablets, but that’s not stopping Ematic from jumping in with their latest offering. The company has now officially announced a new line of Funtab tablets running on Android 4.0.

There are four models in total, ranging from $150 down to as little as $60. For $150, you have the choice between a 7-inch FunTab Pro or a 9.7-inch FunTab XL.

The XL has a 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, HDMI mirroring to HDTVs, and two unspecified cameras on the front and back. As for the Pro? You get a 7-inch capacitive display, 8 hours of battery life, front and back cameras, a 1GHz processor and an HDMI out port. It also features very colorful interchangeable faceplates.

Looking for something less costly for your family? At $130, 1.2GHz FunTab is also 7-inches but doesn’t have the HDMI output functions. On the lowest end, there is also a $60 FunTab Mini, which features a 4.3-inch 480×272 display, 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a rear camera.

The FunTab Mini and all three tablets feature a special “Zoodles” kid friendly mode that is designed to create “a safe and educational online learning experience for children”, according to Ematic’s preident, Roy Rayn.

What do you think, would you consider buying one of these colorful tablets for your children, or is it a better investment to get a “standard” Android tablet and a third party protective case?
