CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly builds now available for Nexus 7 (grouper), Galaxy Nexus (maguro)

Cyan 10.1

Good news for fans of Cyanogenmod 10.1. The team has recently begun applying nightly builds to a few more devices, so even more of us can test out the awesome new Android 4.2 features, including gesture typing, lockscreen widgets and multi-user support on tablets.

Most recently, the Google Nexus 7 (grouper), Samsung Galaxy Nexus (maguro), and the ASUS Transformer Pad TF-700 tablets have been added to the list of devices receiving regular updates. This brings the total number of smartphone and tablets supported with nightly builds up to 50, a pretty remarkable achievement.

For those not familiar with ROM releases, a nightly build is a quickly turned around release, often built on a daily basis. So rather than adding a ton of features in one big update, releases are pumped out more regularly, adding small, incremental updates and fixes. This is great news for users and for the ROM itself too, as we should see stability and problem fixes appearing much more regularly, which can only help improve the size of the install base.

If you want to take a look at Cyanogenmod 10.1 you’ll need a rooted device and you’ll have to be running Jelly Bean before you get started. A list of all devices supported with nightly builds can be found here.
