Many of us are bad with birthdays, but ZeptoLab wants to make sure you don’t forget about them this year. The gaming company is responsible for the acclaimed mobile series Cut the Rope, a franchise that has just turned 5. In-game gifts were available as a form of celebration, but the the team also wants to surprise you with some great news – another Cut the Rope game is coming!

The new title goes by the name of Cut the Rope: Magic, which still features Om Nom (not like he is going anywhere by now) and offers a new “adventure with magical twists to the series’ popular physics-based puzzles”. The only sad news is that ZeptoLab is not saying much else here. We have no real images of the game and the press release is not exactly the most descriptive.

“For five years, we’ve continued to develop the Cut the Rope games by adding new elements, expanding the story and coming up with new features. Today we’re happy to announce the fifth installment in the series — Cut the Rope: Magic, coming this Christmas, as per our usual Cut the Rope tradition.” -Misha Lyalin, CEO at ZeptoLab

Like with any magic trick, we suppose the surprise is the most important element. But we assume the mechanics will be similar: the game is all about getting the candy to Om Nom while catching the most amount of stars. The only difference here is that there will be some magic tricks involved.

The company didn’t fail to remind us about their success in the mobile game industry, which is actually quite substantial. The game series has obtained over 750 million downloads over these 5 years. That’s no small feat, for sure.

What we do know is that Cut the Rope: Magic is coming to a smartphone near you very soon. It should be hitting Android (and iOS) come December. No pricing details are mentioned, but all other Cut the Rope titles are free to download and include in-app purchases – the same will likely apply to the upcoming game. More details are to be unveiled “in the coming months”, so be ready!
