All you Android folks out there who bought the Toshiba Excite 7.7 tablet, today is your lucky day. Toshiba has finally rolled out the Android 4.1.1 update for the tablet and it is now available for download. Just like any other Android update, the new firmware might have been released in phases and might take some time to reach you. If you don’t see the update on your device right away, give it some time.

The Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the Toshiba Excite 7.7 features a hybrid UI for tablets just like the Nexus 7, which is good news. Although the hybrid UI is not loved by everyone, it certainly looks great on 7-inchers. The update, which has been reportedly received by many Toshiba Excite 7.7 users, is a 348MB download. That’s a big download, but I am sure that most of you won’t mind the wait.

Although the Toshiba Excite 7.7 wasn’t able to grab a large share of market due to its comparatively higher price point, the tablet is a capable device nevertheless. The Excite 7.7 features a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, along with 1GB RAM and other powerful specs.

While Toshiba’s track record of providing its Android devices with software update hasn’t been great so far, it’s obviously nice to see the company releasing the update for Excite 7.7 users.

To update your Toshiba Excite 7.7 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean simply hit the Settings application and look for the option for software updates.
