12.2-inch SM-P900 and 10.1-inch SM-P600 Samsung Android tablets to pack 2560 x 1600 displays, report says

Samsung

Samsung is apparently working on a couple of tablets, both said to offer 2560 x 1600 resolution displays.

Renown leakster @evleaks apparently can offer some details about these upcoming products: the 12.2-inch SM-P900 tablet, and the 10.1-inch SM-P600 model:

Samsung SM-P900: 12.2-inch, Exynos 5 octa, 2560×1600, S-pen; P600: 10-inch, Snapdragon 800, also 2560×1600

Naturally, nothing is official just yet, but considering his mostly-accurate track record in the mobile leaks department, we’d tend to trust him with such information.

While official product names are not provided, the SM-P900 is said to pack an Exynos 5 Octa processor (maybe the new version?) and S Pen functionality, a feature that suggest we’re may be looking at a new member of the Note family.

The only other characteristic mentioned for the SM-P600 in addition to screen size and resolution is processor, with @evleaks saying the device will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU.

Will this be the new Nexus 10? It’s too early to speculate on that, but we will remind you that Google has apparently confirmed that a Samsung-made Nexus 10 is in the works.

Interestingly, Zauba – a website where we’ve seen alleged shipment data for R&D Galaxy Note 3 versions and Samsung’s first smartwatch – also mentions a SM-P905 version of the 12.2-inch tablet (the same one we’ve seen in previous reports), but the SM-P600 can’t be found on the same site.

Moreover, PhoneDog points out that both devices have also been spotted in User Agent Profiles on Samsung’s website, which reveal that both tablets will have a 2560 x 1600 resolution and run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

This isn’t the first time we hear that Samsung plans to launch more tablets packing a high-resolution display, including a device with a screen bigger than 10 inches.

The first-gen Nexus 10 tablet also comes with a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution.
