Looking for a new laptop can be time-consuming and confusing. You have to make so many hardware and software decisions and it can feel like you’re comparing apples and oranges. That wasn’t a Mac pun, but it does bring up the fact that you even have to choose your operating system. Even after you narrow your choices, it can be even tougher to narrow down the best laptop deals.

Luckily for you, we’ve taken a bit of the hassle out of your quest. We’ve gone ahead and rounded up some of the best options that can be had right now. We tried to keep the limit at close to $1,000 but it can be very easy to spend twice that on high-end devices.
The best laptop deals:
These deals were in effect at the time of writing. We’ll keep the list updated as we find great new savings.
Dell Chromebook 3100
Starting with the most affordable buy on our laptops deal list, the Dell Chromebook 3100 is an ideal purchase for students or people on a budget. It features an Intel Celeron N4020 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 16GB hard drive. This isn’t a power machine for gaming or heavy processing, but it’s a durable option. The spill- and tamper-resistant keyboard can withstand up to 12 ounces of liquid. As someone who’s lost my last two laptops to spillage, I can’t emphasize the benefit of this feature enough.
Dell Vostro 14 3490
The Dell Vostro 14 3490 is an easy way to jump into the Dell ecosystem without splashing the cash for an XPS model. Right now, the Vostro has the deepest discount on the list at $400 off, and it’s an impressive grab at this price. It’s not only running on a 10th-gen Intel Core i5, but it also has 8GB of RAM and AMD Radeon 610 graphics onboard. The Vostro 14 even has 10 ports so you don’t even have to think about a dongle.

Dell Inspiron 14
The final Dell on our list is a step up from the Chromebook 3100, with an Intel Core i5 processor and a 128GB SSD hard drive. 4GB RAM and a 14-inch screen make this a recent machine for anything but heavy-duty tasks, and yet it’s under $400 in this Staples sale. It also comes with Windows 10, Intel HD graphics 620, and an integrated widescreen HD Webcam for your Google Hangouts.
Google Pixel Slate
Google’s addition to the list is the two-in-one Pixel Slate. It can be used either as a laptop or a tablet, and it’s worth noting that this deal, huge as it is, is just for the tablet element of the slate. The keyboard and stylus are sold separately. Under the hood, you get an Intel Core m3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. A tablet and keyboard combo is ideal for use on the go, so if you’ve got a large $2,000 desktop at home, this would make an ideal accompaniment for your travels.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7
The Surface Pro X may be the peak of Microsoft’s line, but the Surface Pro 7 is no slouch. It packs a 10th-generation Intel Core processor and all-day battery life so you can stay productive no matter what. The Surface Pro 7 is another two-in-one that doesn’t necessarily come with a keyboard, but the Surface Pro Signature Type Cover is included in this deal, so you’re all set.

Apple MacBook Pro
Apple’s MacBook Pro is one of the best laptops for students and creative professionals alike. The 2019 version may not have Apple’s new Magic Keyboard, but it does come with an 8th-generation Core i5, a Retina display, and Apple’s T2 security chip. The butterfly keyboard and Touch Bar may take more than a little bit of getting used to, but this is one of the best laptop deals if you’re set on a Mac.

Acer Aspire 5
The Acer Aspire 5 is the ultimate jack-of-all-trades machine. 8GB of RAM, a 512 SSD, Intel i5 processor, and a bright 15.6-inch screen are complemented by 11 hours of battery life. Despite the specs, it weighs less than 4lb, and it’s especially good for video calls — the built-in camera and dual-microphone system ensure good quality video and sound. I have a variant of this model, and I’ve never looked back.
HP Pavilion 15
The HP Pavillion 15 is approaching the realms of gaming power, with a 10th-gen Intel i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, and advanced graphics. It has dual storage options, with a fast-access 16GB SSD plus a 1TB hard drive. It looks the part too, with an extra-slim build, narrow bezel design, and elevated keyboard. It charges from 0 to 50% in approximately 45 minutes thanks to HP Fast Charge technology.
Samsung Notebook 9 Pro
No laptop deals list would be complete without a Samsung machine. The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro features a slim and sleek frame, an active pen, and a 360-degree hinge to switch between notebook and tablet modes. The Full HD 15-inch touchscreen is complemented by an Intel Core i7 processor, as well as 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. You’d expect nothing less than quality engineering from the Samsung team.
