Deal: Verizon is offering half off Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL with a qualified trade in

If you’re in the market for a new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, Verizon is putting out a 50% offer that can save you some serious dough. All you’ll need to do is trade in a qualifying device and Verizon will slash the price in half. As is always the case, there is some fine print that goes along with this deal.

The device you trade in must be on the list of qualified devices below. Most of the Android phones that qualify for the 50% off deal are selling used for more than $325 (half the price of the Pixel) on sites like Swappa or eBay. The biggest exceptions were the Moto Z Force, Samsung Galaxy S7, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. If you’re getting a base model Pixel 2 and have any of the other devices, you’ll probably come out ahead if you just sell it. If you plan to get the Pixel 2 with 128 GB of storage or the Pixel 2 XL in either storage capacity, this deal will probably benefit you.

Verizon is also offering smaller discounts on older or cheaper devices. Go grab that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 out of your shoebox and get 25% off a 128 GB Pixel 2 XL. Not too bad.

Editor’s Pick

Keep in mind that any phone you trade in needs to be in good working and cosmetic condition. Also, instead of applying your credit at the time of purchase, Verizon will spread it out over the course of 24 months. Verizon did away with two-year contracts like the rest of the industry, but this seems to be a play to ensure that customers stick around for all 24 months so they get their full credit.

This looks like one of the most cost-effective ways to grab a new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL. Are you going to take Verizon up on it? Let us know down in the comments.
