Deal: grab the NVIDIA Shield TV for only $170 at Amazon and Best Buy

If you’re looking to upgrade your living room entertainment experience, there are few ways cheaper than picking up an NVIDIA Shield TV. Not only is it a gaming system backed up by the hundreds of thousands of apps in the Play Store, it has Android TV too. Android TV has matured into a really nice platform over the years and offers a great layout and a ton of apps optimized for the television.

Now, you can your hands on one even cheaper. Both Best Buy and Amazon (links below) have rolled out Black Friday pricing on the system dropping it down to $169.99 from $200. That represents the cheapest the Shield TV has ever been. It’s still a bit more expensive than offerings from Roku or Amazon, but it does quite a bit more too.

The Shield TV recently saw an update that brought better Google Assistant integration and support for YouTube TV. Google Assistant now has the ability to launch shows and control playback in apps like Hulu on the Shield TV. It can also do things like order pizza from the Domino’s app or do some shopping in the Target app. Almost anything Google Assistant can do on your phone, you can do on your television with a Shield TV.

If that wasn’t enough for you, the Shield TV streams in up to 4K at 60 fps. With Android TV built in, it’s easy to find services like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video that all put out beautiful 4K content. Not only does it playback video in 4K, but you can game in 4K too. NVIDIA also offers GeForce NOW which will allow you to leverage NVIDIA’s cloud gaming system to play your PC games on your television through the Shield TV.

The Shield TV isn’t the cheapest 4K streaming box on the market, but it is the cheapest it’s ever been. If you want to check it out, hit one of the links below.
