Welcome back to the Weekly Plan Spotlight! We may have missed a week or three, but today’s hot offer from Verizon should make up for it.
It’s a pretty straight forward one this: When you sign up for an eligible plan and purchase a Google Pixel 2 or 2 XL, Verizon will give you another one free!
Actually that’s not quite the full story. What you’ll receive – when you purchase either phone – is the value of a Google Pixel 2 back in bill credit over the length of your 24-month plan. $649.99 to be precise.
This is pretty standard fare for BOGOs among carriers. As per pretty much all of the deals we come across, the carrier isn’t going to literally hand you a second device as soon as you buy the first one.
Still, it’s better than a slap in the face. In fact, if you were thinking of buying a Pixel 2 or 2 XL anyway, it’s a pretty sweet offer. No trade-in or anything. It also puts you on the nation’s largest network.
Bill credit sounds good. What’s the fine print?
We’ll get onto the eligible plans in a moment. Here are the conditions laid out by Verizon:
- You must sign up for a 24-month installment plan.
- You must sign up for a new line with Verizon to be eligible.
- Credit will appear on your monthly bill up to $649.99 over a 24-month period (it will appear within two billing cycles).
That’s doable. And the plans?
The eligible plans start at $55 per month, which gives you 5GB of data and unlimited talk and text. If you don’t use up your data allowance for the month, your remaining balance will roll over to the next month.
You also don’t need to worry about paying data overages if you use too much data. In “My Verizon” you can turn on “Safety Mode” to slow your data down until your next billing cycle begins.
