ViewSonic’s 22-inch Android VSD220 Smart Display coming to the U.S. in October for $399

It was back in May when we first spotted ViewSonic’s 22-inch Android-powered device. We didn’t know better what to call it at first, but all the while hoping to embrace it in our hands as a tablet. But after playing with it briefly during Computex 2012, it was clear that that’s not the direction that ViewSonic was taking.

Those planning to wheel this big fella out to the nearest café or whip it out for a quick work while commuting will be disappointed to learn that Viewsonic has yanked the battery out from the original specs sheet.

Putting the two unlikely scenarios aside, ViewSonic has announced the arrival of the desktop set for the U.S. market.

Hands on Video

The ViewSonic VSD220 Smart Display boasts a 1,920 x 1080 full HD screen that is touch-enabled. Other features of the Smart Display include 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, micro HDMI port, three USB ports, microSD card slot, Ethernet, and a 1.2MP webcam with integrated microphone.

The tablet-like ViewSonic VSD200 will be available for purchase in America starting in mid-to-late October for $399. Any takers?
