Sony Xperia X Compact now available for pre-order from Amazon

Sony Xperia X Compact Hands On-10

The Sony Xperia X Compact started making its way across the globe soon after its IFA announcement, but in the USA (and other markets) we have to wait until September 25th to see the device hit the streets. Regardless, those interested in buying this mid-range smartphone need not wait around, as they can put their name to one by pre-ordering it from Amazon.

The handset is available for $499.99, but Amazon does offer a $50 credit with the purchase, effectively lowering the price to $449.99. Is this phone worth that much cash? Some would say the Xperia X Compact is not up to par with the competition, due to the lack of a Snapdragon 800 series processor and water protection, but the rest of the specs seem pretty good.

Hardware includes a 4.6-inch 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a 23 MP rear shooter, a 5 MP front camera and a 2,700 mAh battery.

It comes unlocked, off-contract and will start shipping on September 25th. We believe it may be a bit over-priced, especially considering today’s mid-range smartphone market. Are any of you signing up for this one? Hit the comments to let us know.
