Samsung rolls out Jelly Bean update for WiFi Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, ICS for WiFi Galaxy Tab 8.9

Well, look what we have here! Two new ROMs for two of Samsung’s WiFi-only tablets, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and the Galaxy Tab 8.9. There’s no prize for guessing which tab will get Jelly Bean and which one will see Ice Cream Sandwich.

Starting with the WiFi Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 – we reported back in September about a possible Jelly Bean update for the slate, one that turned out to be a dud. Now, the GT-P3110 tablet is finally getting the real Jelly Bean deal.

For the time being, it seems only those lucky folks in France have gotten the over-the-air update from Samsung. If you’re wondering what it packs inside, you can find the ROM right here. As listed there, the software version is P3110XXCLK5.

As for the WiFi Galaxy Tab 8.9, Samsung has rolled out the Android 4.0.4 update for owners of the tab in Malaysia. We don’t know when the update will hit other regions, but you can download the new firmware here (search for P7310 model).

We’re not entirely sure that the ICS ROM will play nice with all WiFi Galaxy Tab 8.9 variants, so you may want to hold off installing it on your device for now. It’d be best to wait for Samsung to officially deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich update — as it’s only a matter of time now.
