While we’re (almost) certain Samsung will be looking to refresh its tablet line-up by MWC 2013, trying to figure out exactly how many different models are incoming is a real challenge. Different sources say different things, but all in all we can expect as less as three and as many as six new Sammy slates to be announced in the next month or so.
The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, aka GT-P3200, is part of the “in doubt” category, although its existence has been confirmed more than once. The question seems to not be if the 7-incher is real however, but rather if Samsung will end up bringing it to light or not.
No way to know that yet, but the tab has been spotted in GLBenchmark’s database, which could mean it’s headed towards us. And based on some of the specs listed there, we can actually see it becoming a hit.
The 7-inch display, initially rumored to come with a mediocre 1,024 x 600 pixels resolution, is apparently now boasting a 1,280 x 800 res, which would result in a pretty decent 216 ppi pixel density. That’s actually the same resolution rocked by Nexus 7’s panel and we haven’t heard a lot of folks complaining about lack of sharpness or poor viewing angles on Google’s slate.
An even more enticing detail revealed by GLBenchmark is the running of Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. Finally, the CPU seems to be clocked at 1.5 GHz, although without knowing the number of cores, make and model, we can’t say too much about it.
What we can do is assume it’s going to be a dual-core member of the Exynos family, maybe even the new 5 Dual. Then again, there’s an “old” Mali-400 GPU on the Tab 3 7.0 and we don’t reckon that’ll go very well with the above mentioned chip.
