Samsung Galaxy S10 series gets a big $150 price drop

Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus and S10e

Samsung has finally pulled the curtain back on the Galaxy S20 series, and the $999 starting price confirms that these are premium phones through and through.

There’s some consolation if you’re on the hunt for a more affordable Samsung flagship, as the company has cut the price of the Galaxy S10 series by $150. Here’s what you’ll now be paying for the older phones:

In other words, you can get the top-end Galaxy S10 Plus for $150 cheaper than the entry-level Galaxy S20. And if all you want is the Galaxy S10e, then it’ll be a massive $400 cheaper than the vanilla S20. Samsung and its retail partners have also held promotions for the Galaxy S10 series, so it’s fair to say the pricing could dip even lower at some points in 2020.

Samsung Galaxy S10 series versus S20

Opt for the Galaxy S10 series over the Galaxy S20 family and you’ll be missing out on a 64MP or 48MP zoom camera, Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 chipset, 8K video recording, 5G, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S20 Ultra also offers a 108MP primary camera capable of nine-in-one pixel binning for better low-light results.

Otherwise, the Galaxy S10 series still has a capable Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 processor, wireless charging, IP68 water/dust resistance, and headphone ports.

The price cut also makes the Galaxy S10e, in particular, more competitive with the Galaxy S10 Lite. Samsung’s Lite model retails for Rs. 39,999 (~$561) in India, and €649 in Europe (~$711), which makes it either a little cheaper or much more expensive than the S10e.

The S10 Lite offers the same chipset, a bigger battery, a higher resolution selfie camera, and more rear cameras than the S10e, but the older flagship delivers wireless charging, water resistance, and a heart-rate sensor.
