Nexus 10 concept

During the build-up to the recently concluded Google I/O, we’ve head many rumors about potential exciting things that were expected to be revealed at the conference. Some were spot on, like the Nexus 7 tablet and Jelly Bean (albeit version 4.1 and not 5.0 as many had thought/hoped), while some were way off base.

Bottom line, we’ve got two cool new devices that show some great potential. But is there a third device waiting in the wings? Well, according to some reports, yes there is!

If the name “Nexus 10″ sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve already seen an earlier report about the possibility of a 10-inch Android tablet from Google. According to MyDrivers, we now have some specifications and other information about the follow-up to the Nexus 7. Let’s take a look.

As expected, the Nexus 10 will be powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. With Android 4.1 officially announced, the Nexus 10, (if there is one) will definitely feature the latest flavor of Android. The report further suggests that two internal storage options of either 16GB or 32GB will be available. Whether Google will forego microSD expansion a la Nexus 7 is unknown.

Here’s the kicker! The Nexus 10 is expected to cost only $299 for the 16GB model. So you essentially get a “full-sized” tablet with the same specifications as the Nexus 7 for only $50 more. Google has already shown that low-cost yet high-specced devices are possible. But, with most quad-core 10″ tablet pushing the $500 line, the Nexus 10 would completely change the face of the Android tablet market.

The Nexus 10 is expected to arrive in fall, most likely alongside a yearly-occurring Nexus smartphone.

Of course, this is entirely based on rumors, speculations, and let’s be honest, wishful thinking at this point, so I won’t be cancelling my Nexus 7 pre-order just yet. But I can’t help but wonder, if the rumors are true, how AWESOME would the Nexus 10 be?
