Next-gen Kindle devices finally on their way soon?

A refresh of the Kindle line-up is nearly upon us, and it’s about time. With the arrival of Google’s Nexus 7, the Kindle Fire is truly in need of an upgrade. Many people had hoped that July would bring news of a next-gen Kindle Fire offering. But with July long gone, now it seems that all hope rests on an August launch.

How close are we? Amazon recently started giving out massive discounts on the 10-inch Kindle DX reader and Kindle accessories. The shipping times on the $99 ad-supported Kindle Touch also increased to 8 to 9 days. Looking at the evidence, Amazon seems to be working to clear out its inventory. Whenever a company does this, it’s only a matter of time before a new product launch. If rumors are to be believed, we could be seeing new Kindle devices announced as early as next week.

What do you hope to see in a new Kindle Fire, or even the rest of the next-gen Kindle line for that matter? Could a 10-inch Kindle Fire be on its way as well?
