Huawei Mate 10 Pro launches in the UK, Vodafone giving free Watch 2 to first 1,000 buyers

Today marks the official launch of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro in the UK. Buyers can pick one up from Carphone Warehouse, Three, or Vodafone, but if you’re planning on grabbing one from the latter carrier you might want to ask fast!

To celebrate the launch, Vodafone is offering a free Huawei Watch 2, but only to the first 1,000 customers. Packages from Vodafone start at £46 a month with a £10 upfront fee on the Red Extra plan. That gets you 4 GB of data, unlimited calls and unlimited texts.

If you’re a media lover who’s always hungry for more data, you might want to check out the Red Entertainment plans which go up to 60 GB and come with free subscriptions to Spotify Premium, Sky Sports Mobile TV, or Now TV for the full 24 month contract term.

While the debate as to which of the Chinese giant’s Mate 10 phones is the true flagship will no doubt rage on, Huawei is making the decision a little easier for British consumers by only bringing over the Mate 10 Pro. The phone was shown in four colors during its launch in October (Midnight Blue, Titanium Gray, Mocha Brown, and Pink Gold), but it seems like the UK is only getting the Titanium Gray model, at least for now.

As a quick refresher, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is the OEM’s latest premium phablet and it sees the company jumping on the current trend of near bezel-less displays. It sports an all-glass construction and an eye-catching 6-inch OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a “Full HD+” resolution (2160 x 1080).

The Mate 10 Pro is powered by a Huawei’s bespoke Kirin 970 processor backed by a meaty 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of non-expandable storage, and a huge 4,000 mAh battery.

It also comes with a 20 MP Leica-branded dual-camera (20 MP Monochrome + 12 MP RGB sensors), an 8 MP selfie snapper and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. As a bonus, the device is one of the first phones to launch running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, although you will have to put up with the latest version of Huawei’s divisive EMUI software too. It also doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
