Grey Nexus 7 cover pulled from the Google Play Store, Pink version available only outside the US

If you’ve just bought a Google Nexus 7 and were hoping to pick up the grey protective cover, you’re out of luck, with that particular color version now unavailable on the Google Play Store. The pink cover is also available only outside the US at the moment, and for now, the light blue version is the only option available to you.

The grey cover is my favorite and the one I use for my Nexus 7, so this seemingly random move was certainly surprising, but maybe that’s just boring old me. Google hasn’t said whether this is just an out-of-stock issue, but the product wouldn’t be pulled from the site then, or whether its a permanent step. I’m sure they have their reasons, which I’m waiting to find out.

Of course, you can still pick up the covers from the ASUS website, which still stocks all color options, including light and dark grey, light and dark blue, pink, and orange.  You can also pick up the official covers from other third-party online retailers, so all is not lost.

What are your thoughts? What do you think is the reason behind the grey cover being pulled? Were you hoping to pick one up? What is your favorite color option for the Nexus 7 cover? Let us know in the comments section below.
