Good news, denizens of the Lone Star State! The sultan of search is considering bringing their crazy-fast internet service to Dallas, Texas. Google has by no means finalized these plans, but it seems that talks are in the works between the company and Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings, as well as other local leaders, to make Google Fiber a reality in the area.

If this ends up going through to completion, then Dallas will end up being the third city in the state to receive the service, following Austin (which already has the Fiber) and San Antonio (which is currently gearing up for the service). Dallas is beginning to make something of a national name for itself as a budding tech site, so selecting the city for Fiber is a natural call.

As always, bringing Fiber to a new city is a massive undertaking. Google actually has a 16 page checklist outlining the process of bringing their service to a city, and it involves learning more about the local topography, existing infrastructure, and making sure that there aren’t other existing factors that would inhibit Fiber service.
