Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 hands-on preview: video & gallery

The Pro family of Samsung tablets unveiled on Monday at CES 2014 represents the company’s new line of flagship Android devices that aims to increase your productivity on the go, and maybe even replace your regular PC in the process.

Of them, the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 stands out as the top model, featuring a large screen high-resolution display and a built-in S Pen stylus – here’s our hands-on video and image gallery with this monster.

The Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 is a 12.2-inch device that’s larger than anything you’d usually see in terms of tablets – it measures 295.6 x 204 x 7.95mm and weighs almost 760g (depending on the version you purchase).

The tablet packs a Super Clear LCD display featuring an impressive resolution – 2560 x 1600, or 247 pixel-per-inch (ppi) – and on the back you’ll find the same textured plastic with faux leather effect the company has used in other Note devices including the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) tablet.

In addition to high-end hardware – quad-core Snapdragon 800 or Exynos 5 Octa processor (depending on version), 3GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage upgradeable via microSD card and 9500mAh battery – that can support your professional needs, there’s also new software to check out. That includes Samsung’s new TouchWiz features built on top of Android 4.4 KitKat and aimed to increase your productivity, but also the software package worth $700 that will come bundled with this Pro tablet model, at least in certain markets.

The new TouchWiz features including the customizable Magazine UX interface and the enhanced multi-window support that allows the user to share the screen between up to four apps thanks to the bigger display, coupled with the “traditional” S Pen features we’ve come to expect from Note devices should definitely come in handy for both work and play.

With that in mind, this is our first look at the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, and we’ll give it a more in-depth look in the future.
