Galaxy Note 10.1 up for pre-order at Negri Electronics, supposedly shipping today

As masterful as Samsung might usually be at building up hype around its gadgets, we can’t help but feel that Sammy has gone a bit over the top with the Galaxy Note 10.1. The 10-inch tablet was unveiled way back at the MWC in February, and almost six months later, there’s still no sign of it.

Not only has the launch been seriously delayed, but it has also been extremely difficult to keep track of all of the rumors, speculations and especially the fake releases. We’ve seen the Note 10.1 up for pre-order at a number of online retailers, who’ve all claimed to get the tablet out “soon”, only for the 10-incher to quickly disappear without any trace or explanation.

This cheap spectacle has only made the Note 10.1 less intriguing, although rumors of its improved spec sheet have kept a certain degree of excitement going. Now the tab is yet again up for pre-order at an online retailer, who’s claiming to be able to ship it starting today, August 3.

Negri Electronics is surely a prestigious name in the online retail industry, but that still doesn’t make us very certain of this latest announcement’s credibility. After all, we had no reason to mistrust J&R’s listing of the gadget, and that proved phony.

A pretty solid piece of evidence to support this new pre-order start comes from Twitter, where the folks at Negri Electronics have posted a photo of an unboxed Galaxy Note 10.1. It’s pretty clear that the pic isn’t fabricated, but that doesn’t mean the retailer won’t be forced to hold on to the tablets for a while longer, now does it?

The reason why we’re saying this is we’re expecting Samsung to officially show off the new tablet at either the August 15 or the August 29 “Unpacked” events. And if the tab were to start selling before the unveiling, wouldn’t that hurt Sammy’s chances to “surprise” us?

Even if Negri won’t start shipping the Note 10.1 today, the retailer’s listing offers us two important pieces of information about the tab. First off, the spec sheet now seems final, including the quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 processor, the WXGA TFT display, the 5 MP rear-facing camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

We now also know how will the 10-incher be priced, although we’re still hoping other retailers will charge significantly less for it. If you choose to go for Negri’s deal, however, you’ll have to pay a pretty hefty $749.50.

Will anyone be pre-ordering a Galaxy Note 10.1 from Negri? And if not, is it because you don’t think the 10-incher will start selling now, or because you’d rather wait and hope to get it cheaper from somewhere else?
