Deal: Get 50% off Square Enix’s Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana games on Play Store (Updated)

Update: Square Enix has confirmed that the discounts on Final Fantasy titles listed below will end on January 2nd. Meanwhile, the Secret of Mana games will go back to full price after January 7th.

In addition, we’ve been told that Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX will also be discounted from December 25th until January 3rd. We’re not quite sure how much the price cut will be exactly, but you might want to keep an eye on both games’ Play Store listings here and here.

Square Enix is once again offering up to 50% off on a bunch of Final Fantasy games on the Google Play Store. In case you missed out on the last sale, now is as good a time as ever to delve into some of the best titles on offer in the historic Japanese RPG franchise.

The games in the sale include various mobile ports from the very first Final Fantasy all the way up to the Nintendo SNES classic, Final Fantasy VI. You can also get Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for half price, as well as the mobile-exclusive Final Fantasy Dimensions for just $6.99.

Many of the games feature a reworked 2D art-style – a topic that has proved somewhat divisive among fans – and a control scheme adapted to suit touchscreen play. The Android versions of Final Fantasy III, IV, and IV: After Years, meanwhile, present their epic adventures in full 3D.

Below is a full list of all of the Final Fantasy games currently on sale with Play Store links:

Final Fantasy: $3.99 (was $7.99)
Final Fantasy II: $3.99 (was $7.99)
Final Fantasy III: $6.49 (was $12.99)
Final Fantasy IV: $7.99 (was $15.99)
Final Fantasy IV: After Years: $7.99 (was $15.99)
Final Fantasy V: $7.99 (was $15.99)
Final Fantasy VI: $7.99 (was $15.99)
Final Fantasy Dimensions: $6.99 (was $13.99)
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of Lions: $4.99 (was $11.99)

Of the lot, I’d personally recommend Final Fantasy IV and VI, as they contain two of the best narratives found across the entire series. Final Fantasy VI is by far the better of the pair, but your enjoyment will depend on how much you can stand the remastered visuals (I much prefer the look of the 16-bit original).

It’s not just Final Fantasy games that are on offer, however, as Square Enix appears to be discounting a handful of other JRPG titles as well, including Secret of Mana ($3.99) and Adventure of Mana ($6.99).

Any of the above should offer more than enough gameplay to tide you over until the first episode of Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition goes live. Let us know if you’re picking up any of the great games listed here in the comments!
