Ironically, planning a vacation can often be a stressful experience, with pages and pages of options to sift through and weigh up. Fortunately, Google has just introduced a new Destinations feature to its mobile Search platform, allowing users to book almost everything they need for a vacation from a single search from their smartphone.
The new Destinations feature builds on Google’s existing Flights and Hotel search, offering up details on flights, hotels, and itinerary too. Searches don’t have to be specific either, you can start with a broad location and sift through recommendations until you find something that you like. Google has integrated some of its more advanced search features too, allowing you to specify a certain activity and even picking out ideas that fit with your hobbies and interests.
To start up Google’s Destinations, simply type in your desired location and click the little blue destination arrow that pops up in the results. From there you can explore what’s available and zoom in to other locations through the “explore tab.” Pressing the “plan a trip” tab will bring up suggestions and prices for flights and hotels.
The results go far beyond just place and hotel suggestions though. Users can refine their search further based on their preferred dates, price ranges, or how busy the destination is at different times of the year. It’s even possible to view popular itineraries that piece multiple highlights together, and to view the estimated cost of your next adventure across a 6 month period to help you stick to your budget. The video below explains it all rather well:
While those looking to plan out very specific trips probably won’t find Destinations quite detailed enough, it really simplifies the often tedious process of searching on a mobile device. Will you be using it to plan your next vacation?
