With so much competition going on in the 7-inch tablet market, one might think Barnes & Noble is on its sure way to perdition. Still, the US-based book retailer/tech manufacturer is alive and kicking, having recently announced the release of two new tabs, the 7 and 9-inch Nook HD and HD+, designed specifically to take on Google, Amazon, Apple and Samsung.
Before seeing how the new duo can shape up against the big guys however, B&N still has some old scores to settle. The Nook Color and Nook Tablet haven’t exactly been big hits, so in order for the OG 7-inchers to be liquidated their prices have been cut.
Both tabs have seen substantial discounts some three months back, so B&N is doing pretty badly after all, but we regular tech lovers only have to gain from the company’s pickle, right?
The Nook Color has seen a 10 bucks discount to $139, while the 8 and 16 GB versions of the Nook Tablet have each had their prices cut with $20 to $159 and $179 respectively. All three gadgets are up for grabs for the new prices both online and in brick and mortar stores, and, while the deals sound very juicy, be sure to think things through.
Amazon’s Kindle Fire is the same price as the 8 GB Nook Tablet (though with “special offers”), while Google’s Nexus 7 is only $200 in its 16 GB version. As for the Nook Color, that doesn’t really have a direct competitor from Amazon or Google, though the new Kindle Paperwhite e-reader is not very different after all, being also 20 bucks cheaper.
