ASUS ZenFone Zoom is set to arrive in February

It’s been a long time coming. The ASUS ZenFone was first announced all the way back in January 2015 at that year’s CES. Now it looks like the camera-centric phone is slated to hit US soil in February with a price tag of $399.

The ZenFone Zoom is an interesting device that puts the heft of its capabilities into its 13 megapixel camera with laser autofocus and 3x optical zoom. ASUS boasts that it’s the thinnest phone on the market that has optical 3x zoom, and its striking physical structure attests to that. The ‘hump’ on the back houses a multi-lens camera with dual flash capabilities, and it is surrounded on all sides by an authentic leather finish.

The screen is a vibrant 5.5-incher rocking a 1920×1080 resolution, and although the battery is non-removable, the 3,000mAh it brings to the table make it seem like you won’t be reaching for the charger midway through the day. The ZenFone Zoom hopes to compete with the best smartphone cameras on the market in spite of it’s mid-level (if upper-mid-level) price tag.

Currently, it looks like the ZenFone Zoom will be releasing exclusively at B&H Photo starting February 1st. No word yet on how long this exclusivity will last, but we are assuming that other retailers will be able to offer the device at a later date.
