ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity hitting the UK on August 31

ASUS UK took to Twitter today to announce that its much awaited Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700) will be gracing the shores of the British Isles on August 31.

Brits will have to wait a bit longer than their cousins down under – we reported yesterday that ASUS Australia has sent out invites for the launch event of the Transformer Pad Infinity on August 7. Moreover, the Infinity has been available in the US from July 16.

To add injury to the insult, UK-residents will have to put up with a stinging price tag. The 64GB version of the Pad Infinity will go for £599 (about $930), with the keyboard dock included. For comparison, the same model is available across the pond for $750 (with dock included). If it’s any consolation, it wouldn’t be the first time consumer devices are sold in Europe with a hefty premium slapped for no apparent reason. No word yet on when we could expect the 32GB version and at what price.

The price of the Infinity might well be worth it – many reviewers recommend the TF700 as the best Android tablet around. The specs certainly appear drool-worthy: quad-core Tegra 3, 1GB RAM, a beautiful Super IPS+ LCD display, and a keyboard dock that turn it into a pretty capable netbook.

UK readers, will you snatch the Pad Infinity on August 31, or do you have some better way to spend your disposable income?
