Android 4.4 KitKat to bring a revamped “Downloads” interface

The “Downloads” user interface will reportedly get a “long overdue fresh coat of paint” in Android 4.4 KitKat.

The news comes from Android Police, which has received an image reportedly showing the new Downloads user interface (see image below) in Google’s upcoming OS update.

According to the publication, the Downloads screen will move from Holo Dark to Holo Light and the app will get “a much cleaner icon.” Furthermore, a “proper action bar” is apparently also present, with the Sort button able to make “a jump from the bottom of the screen to the top.”

Android Police expects the new Downloads UI to be available starting with Android 4.4 KitKat, and we’ll have to wait for Google to release its next Android OS version to see if this rumor is accurate or not.

We expect to see the new OS unveiled at some point later this month alongside new Nexus products including the Nexus 5 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet – various rumors out there say that Google may be working on other Nexus products as well on top of these two.

That said, we’ll remind you that we’ve seen plenty of Android 4.4 KitKat rumors lately, with a leaked but unconfirmed log file detailing some of its features.
