8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE coming to an AT&T store near you

Hoping to echo the success Amazon received with the Kindle Fire tablet back in 2011, the company last year announced not one, but three new Android(-based) tablets, the second generation Kindle Fire, and the Kindle Fire HD, which is available in both 7-inch and 8.9-inch sizes. Also announced was a 4G LTE version of the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD, which was priced at $399 (32GB) and $499 (64GB).

The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE  is now making its way to AT&T stores near you! And you know what that means – 2 year contracts and subsidies. The 32GB version of the device, which sells for $399, could be yours for as low as $249, with a 2 year contractual commitment. Customers will also have to choose from various (T-Mobile calls it confusing) data plans, starting from as low as $10 for Mobile Share, Individual, and Family plans.  Of course, to get the full discount, you’ll need to get a plan worth at least $14.99/month or a Mobile Share plan, which will get you $100 off, with the remaining $50 discount available if you purchase the tablet from an AT&T retail store.

If you remember, when the Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE was announced, Amazon also talked about a special 1-year data package which involved just a $49.99 one time payment, and included 20 GB of additional Amazon cloud storage, $10 Amazon App Store credit, and 250 MB data per month on AT&T’s “blazing fast” 4G LTE network. If you’re hoping to pick up the 4G LTE version of the Kindle Fire HD, you should definitely first do the math on which option works out better for you.

If you’re okay with paying full price and the Amazon LTE package is more than enough, you can buy the device directly from Amazon here. If buying the device from the network carrier is your choice, head on over to an AT&T retail store near you from April 5, to pick up your Amazon Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE.
